I realised
that I haven't touched my Xanga for the longest time. Of course I had been busy
lately, but I haven’t touched my Xanga for reasons unknown. Well, one of the anonymous
reasons could be the fact that I wasn’t interested, another reason was that I
spend my precious time else where.

Too be
honest, lately I feel a little lost. I’m doing things I haven’t been doing for
ages, and lost touch which things I use to do. Most surprising thing is that I
go to gym 2-3 times a week. And I have to admit, that it feels great. I also
realise how addictive sports can be. I miss the team idea, since I love to play
basketball, but I probably wouldn’t find time for the obligations towards the
team.

In fact I
already lost the mood to type. But I’ve decided to start new and probably leave
Xanga. It might take awhile though, since it will probably take some time
before I finish my new blog. I intend to go on blogging on blogger.com, since
it offers so much more freedom. Besides I love Google.. :P

I’m sorry
for not replying you all, and that I haven’t take time to browse through your
blogs, but I promise that I will do so in the “near” future. As for now,
sayornana everyone!

Trendwatching

When the
ladies are trying to keep up with the latest fashion and coolest accessories we
call them shopaholics, but when we guys do things like this, we call them
trendwatchers. When you meet a slick guy driving the latest Z4, who’s totally
into the van Holland Philosophy, while kicking around his “Boss” (the ones that
only comes in pairs). More surprising fact is that you meet him in the
trendiest lounge in town. He might tell you that he’s a spotter.

Of course
this is a total misconception, not all spotters look trendy, but since they
keep track of trends they might have a good sense for taste.

I’m not
talking about people who read the Cosmo or Elle… No, these guys might be metro
or oversensitive, but spotters are not like these guys. They are not reading
magazines.. they are in it. They fly all over the world to give seminars; they
are in Time, Biz 2, or Economist. They make friends with people twice their
age, telling them how to make even more bucks than they already doing.

Seriously,
if I’ve met a trendwatcher earlier, I might have thought of becoming one. These
people not only have a awareness for simple trends. It’s not like they only see
how cool it is to be in the starbucks, but they actually see it emerging, and
how it can make bucks out of cup with stars.

The
difference between being aware of trends, they tend to think in ways of
targeting and marketing. They see money in the trends… big bucks, money you and
me might only dream of. They see new markets, other might not have noticed.
They make trendy marketing words that we have to learn in uninteresting theory
books. They might even write those themselves.

So who
wouldn’t want a job like this? Keeping track of the latest trend, and get paid
for it as well. It’s like a dream come true…. Why would u want to be a
stereotypical and everyone-wants-to-be columnist, when you can have a
profession that makes your dad and mom proud (while they don’t even know what
you are doing)?

Speaking of Trends... this is a Trend.. Paris Hilton lol. This MV is hilarious... it's a VH1 video lol! No offence for the Paris Hilton fans, but this is too good, my hands feel itchy if I don't post this!

Including top HK stars like Julian Cheung and Kristy Yung. A popular star in Taiwan Fan Bing is in it too.

I heard this series is the product of combined work from China and Hong Kong. It actually potrays a young person from HK who lost him ambitions due to the fact that he got unemployed for quite a long time (Julian Cheung). Together with his girlfriend (Kristy Yung), he gathered quite an amount of money to start his own business in Shanghai. They were planning to open a new HK style coffee and tea shop and eventually marry after things were settled down. While Julian stays in Shanghai Kristy will have to go back to HK to continue working as a PR manager in a big Hotel.
Needless to say nothing will go as planned. Julian ended up finding work in a big HK-SH based property and development company. And slowly adapts to work and living in Shanghai, while he recaptures the ambitions he once had.
His best friend's girl friend (Fan Bing Bing) works as a secretary in this company, and this all meant a start for their unusual friendship and comradeship. Between friendship, they start to feel the chemistry between each other. But since he's his best pal's girlfriend and Julian truly respects his girlfriend in HK, things will get more complicated, especially when Bing Bing and Julian starts working in the same projects while striving and working on mutual dreams and goals.

I love this kind of slow-paced series. I have no idea why, but I guess the series contains quite a message. First of all it's about building a future. It messages out that every1 should be able to have a place where they call home, no matter they are rich or not. It doesn't need to be too fancy as long as long as the "family" is in it. The family is our root and that's the fundament of everything we build. "A house is not a home" is also a more than common remark in the series. It actually contains a lot more of these good quotes.
Another concept I kind of like is that it's about young people aspired by there dreams. Not wealth or richness, but true dreams that will affect the life of all the people around them. The main characters can be aspiring on our own life as well, for what they do. They hang on to their dreams, and continue to work on them even when all ties are against them, and everybody abandons them.
The love triangle is not very cliché. It potrays a very real life version of a love triangle. First of all, the main characters have to cope with long distance relationships. Next to that they try to perserver their love, even though they might have some affections for other people around them, but the flame in them never will die, as long they hold on to their relationship, and are willing to work on it.

The reason that the series might seem a little bit boring is because of the fact that it's closer to life than most other Chinese series we've experienced. The struggles and dreams are not as big like in series as At a treshold of an new era. And somehow it does remind me of this tvb series. Between the struggles this series was also about building a dream. Where Gallen Lo tries to fullfil his dead buddies dream, building a environment friendly "city", where people can live in a good environment they deserve. The message in that series was that "All skyscrapers are build from the ground", the message was actually double edged, meaning that we have to build good fundaments to improve our life in the future (seen with the family and home as roots), and that we have to go for gradual growth, while taking 1 step at the time (down to earth).

The series gets more interesting since the ladies seems to watch this series different than we men. At least that was for me and my friend. She tends to concentrate on the relationship between people, while I kept focussing on the life aspiring messages. And it even leads to some disagreements on Julian's character. I can truly understand Julian, while my friend tends to take it up for Kristy. While we both agree that both characters are extremely good to a certain extent. Actually they both sacraficed a lot for their relationship with each other, but somehow if u take a standpoint from either side.. it seems like that one did so much more and seem so much more tolerant.

I like the original Chinese title of the series so much better. Litterally it says, "new paradise of beautiful dreams"

Today while the blossoms still cling to the vine
I'll taste your strawberries I'll drink your sweet wine
A million tomorrows shall all pass away
'Ere I forget all the joy that is mine, today

Korea - France... 1-1! Muhahahaha~

Wednesday, June 14, 2006

Lee Hom Rocks my world

My friends have been forcing me to listen to Lee Hom lately. And after listening and seeing some of his older MVs I realise that he's actually quite talented, and a real artist. He can play and write, more importantly he's into R&B while mixing it with unique classical Chinese themes. And he can play the guitar, piano and violin, nowadays most "pop" idols don't even know how to hold a guitar. So he's actually better than I thought.
On the other hand he seems rather down to earth. He's obviously quite well off, but yet we know nothing about his private life. I think he lacks the reconigtion because he don't like to "create" news. He doesn't even hold press conference when people say he's gay or into little girls. He just let people talk, and only steps into the spotlights when he is able to make music. That's quite some dedication.
Ok... some MV's of Lee hom

In this MV Lee Hom tries to act like a typical boyband hahaha. This is hilarious, and he kind of make fun of all those boybands out there.

A lot of foreign friends has been asking me why I love soccer so much. Too be honest, I can't explain it clearly. By nature I'm a basketball fanatic. I've been extreme lucky since I'm brought up amoung Micheal Jordan, Larry Bird and Magic Johnson. I've witness their greatness, and behold their strength. But on the other hand other sport heroes like Van Basten, Gullit, Romario were amoung my soccer heroes.

I clearly remember the day that Holland won the Eurocup. Seeing Van Basten scoring one after another for "my" country was a great thing to witness. The day we announced ourselves Euro champions, cars were painted orange, people hit the street right after the referee ended the match. People cried out of joy all over the street, and cars started beeping and there seemed like no end to it.

Soccer is a national thing over here. I believe that all healthy Dutch guys have played soccer at a club once in his life. Even now, you can witness how people experience this game around you. It's not only national pride, it's so much more than that. It's wearing orange clothes, and wearing orange hats together. Asking your friends over because you got the biggest tv. Have some great chatter while enjoying our beer and soccer on TV. Laughing at "our" opponents, while applauding "our" team. And when we score.... we can hear all our neighbours crying out for joy. After a winning match we will hit the streets in search for a great pub, where bachelors came together to watch the game on big screens. We sing and celebrate our win. And of course...everyone is in orange...

I can't explain why I love soccer so much, but I don't think I have to explain... . you have to experience this in order to understand what soccer is all about over here.
